Job Applications

Well, today has been really long and boring, thanks to school and all of its little quirks:

--We checked out the Grapes of Wrath today.

--We watched a slutty, Spanish sitcom in which we were forced to watch a girl try and decide whether or not to "do it" for the first time.  Shouldn't this stuff be illegal to show in school?!?

--I took the easiest History test EVER, which is weird because that class not an "easy" history class (AP).

--In AP Bio, we determined whether Drosophila Flies (don't ask me how I managed to write that without the spell-checker freaking out at me:) were male or female and now have to wait for those flies to mate and make mutated children.

--Got yelled at by my teacher for not having my personal business letter IN the envelope BEFORE she passed my desk...

--And learned that fasting is considered a "Fad Diet" but my teacher thinks of it as a "Hunger Strike" against businesses....hmmm.   I didn't really know it was either of those;)

--And half way through sixth period I realized that my keys were missing.  Luckily they were sitting on the seat of my car:D

All in all it was a pretty good day:)  And filling out a dozen job applications really put the icing on the cake for me;)

Day of Fun and Games:)

So today I have been doing lots and lots of crafts, because it's Sunday, and what better is there to do? So, I have made some really cool stuff and have found a lot of other stuff to do as well!:)

First, I shrunk the last of my chip bags to make a really cute key chain (you put it on a foil covered cookie sheet at 365 degrees on the top rack and keep a close eye one it, taking it out often to flip it over and flatten it out so that it shrinks evenly) and that turned out super well.

Second, I made this really cute paper butterfly with red and yellow paper, and eventually I think I am planning on making a whole bunch of them to hang off the bunk beds in my room. All in different colors too...pink, blue, green....now that I have the paper to do it with (probably the best Christmas present ever Grams;), and I am super excited to get started. I just need to get varnish for the finishing touch:)

And then there was the usual--beading and earrings, nothing too exciting you know, but fun nonetheless. There is this really cute bracelet that I am looking forward to doing in the future too...:)

Daddy Daughter Nerd Night

Decorations:

· Wall 1 will have “space invaders” cutouts on black butcher paper

· Wall 2 will have Mario scene

· Wall 3 will have Pac Man

· Miscellaneous Star wars, star trek, etc. around room.

· Chess board and battleship games on tables

· A big bowl of Nerds candy

· Retro music in the background

· Does anyone know anyone with a lava lamp or two?

Games 1 & 2

Have each dad write a nerdy thing they did growing up that they haven’t told anyone before, then later read each one aloud and have the girls who think it was her father raise their hand. Then see who is right and who is wrong.

Pick Your Nose: Across a doorway we will hang a sheet that has numbered 'nose holes' cut in. First the Dads will line up behind sheet with noses and bare feet showing only. One at a time the girls will pick which dad is theirs and write it down.

Games 3 & 4

Blindfolded girls have to apply shaving cream, and “shave” dads with Popsicle sticks from behind and shaving cream…Points awarded for funniest face, least shaving cream left after 1 minute, most shaving cream left, etc. (losing fathers will not be allowed to wash their faces after the activity(for pictures))

Daughters have to try to tie a tie on her dad with a blindfold on and only her dad’s instructions. Points for 1st done, best, & most miserable failure???

Game 5

Dads get daughters ready for a date. The dads and daughters will be teams and there will be two stations.

Crazy Hair - Locate some hair bows, scrunchies, clips, and all the good stuff. :) (Leaders and girls pitching in, If you have anything you don’t need that would be great :) Next blindfold the contestants. Dads must style daughters’ hair in the craziest hair-style they can think of. Take the blindfolds off and have a contest for the craziest hair do's.

Makeup: The dads have to get behind the daughter and put blush, eye shadow and lipstick on her in the correct places. The funniest makeup job wins. (leaders and girls pitching in, If you have anything you don’t need that would be great:)

At the end take a picture of the dads and girls together in all of their crazy hair, makeup, ties, etc.

Bring awards…i.e. 3-D glasses from theaters with the lenses popped out and the bridge taped. Medals with pictures of yoshi on them. Etc.

Schedule:

Girls and Dads come at 6:30

Person in charge of “nerdy things I did”/”pick your nose” activities will hand out a piece of paper to all dads and will not allow them to come in (the girls will come in; maybe we will have an activity or possibly a talk of some sort). The dads will write something down and turn the papers back in. Then they will stand in line with their shoes and socks off in front of the sheeted door. One at a time they will put their noses through a hole in the sheet, and when their daughter guesses it is her father he will be allowed inside.

The emcee will start the program and ask someone to give a prayer, and will announce someone giving a talk on the importance of relationships with fathers. Then emcee will announce the next 2 activities. The shaving activity and tie activity, (done by whoever we can get to do this job (they will come up and explain the activity before starting it)).

We will do the activities and then the emcee will announce the getting ready for a date activity. The person in charge will come up and explain and then start the activity.

Then the emcee will announce pictures/refreshments and ask someone to give a closing prayer.

Pictures and refreshments/ hanging out.

Ok, this is one of those amazing recipes that I use over and over again:) The thing is, it always turns out differently, and ALWAYS turns out good!

Well you know how it goes....

I'm really just hoping this isn't just another one of those blogs that is created and never looked at again. I hope to be able to make this a journal of things I have done, and things I would like to save in such a way that I am not the only person to ever see it. About me--I have some very diverse interests, I love all the things that bloggers generally enjoy: crafting, cooking, sewing, as well as loving to run around and play sports. I love the classic books by the Bronte Sisters and Jane Austin and all those other classic authors, as well as the children's fantasy books of today. I love being alone on a quiet afternoon just as much as I love going out to the movies with all of my friends. Tennis and Basketball are often my main focus, but at the same time I play the flute with our local community college, and piano at home in my own time.
I really can't say that I am an overachiever because my grades, though they are decent are nothing to brag about, and that is one of those things I am working hard to change (100% in PreCalculus so far this semester:) I hope to be able to make my way into BYU Idaho (because yes, I am a Mormon) and major in English.
I know this has been a bit of a ramble, but I am very excited for the opportunity to share my thoughts with everyone who wants to listen (and even those of you who don't;). I hope to be able to make this a fun and entertaining journey through my life, and share those things I discover with everyone I can.
